Benjamin Blanc is an emerging London-based French artist, currently at doing an MA painting at the Royal College of Art.
His work explores the bonds that hold bodies together. Painting from memory, his figures inhabit intimate scenes, within a given set of sensorial parameters; namely, an itchy duvet cover, a sweaty morning in the summer, or a dark windowless room, in which the air is a fixed, stagnant thing.
Benjamin manages scarcity and excess. Through body-awareness, compositional and material decision-making, his paintings explores feelings of Aloneness, Twoness, and Crowdness. Scenes where his figures lie are a set, where time rests in its dry, solid form.
